Release Info: ZUT UN FEU ROUGE-KAFKA VS CHAPLIN, 12\" EP, 1983, SWEDEN
Lars Jonsson's exhilaratingly anxious extensions of the R.I.O. spirit have been birthed under a variety of banners over the years, many of them, from album's recorded under the nom de plume's J. Lachen or Lach' Jonsson to his work in the band Ur Kaos having previously been shared on Mutant, including the follow up to this debut EP by Zut Un Feu Rouge that I offered during the early days of my posting on Mutant. On Kafka Vs. Chaplin, the interplay between stark minor key art rock smolder, post punk-informed looseness and seductively askew sax and organ-centric arrangements build a bridge between the brash horn honking angst of LAFMS post punkers the B-People and the kind of bemusedly oblique avant prog enacted by Etron Fou Leloublan's successors like Art Moulu or Ferdinand Et Le Philosophes.
