"The idea of recording "The Mexican" has started since the gig at "Bottle"(the funk event held every 2 months at "No Style" (Shibuya) on 20th June, 2010. "The Mexican" played by Q.A.S.B. at the gig was highly thought by RYUHEI THE MAN who invited as a guest DJ of the same event.
But at that time, I felt tow difficulties of recording this song. One is the issue of getting permission from the author, Mr Alan Shacklock, and the other is the arrangement of this song. The original version by Babe Ruth is very famous like as everyone knows, the band has been spending many hours for planning the concept. The new but not loosing the respect to Mr Alan Shacklock and Babe Ruth. This compromise in a good sense was most difficult.
Surprisingly, Mr Alan Shacklock kindly gave us the permission of recording. Rather it looks that he assists us. I would like to give my respect to his generosity character.
Finally we recored last October at "Studio Dede" at Ikebukuro (Tokyo) under the direction by RYUHEI THE MAN. The engineer is Mr Matsushita, who is still young but very experienced vinyl recording technician. Also we have a lot of advise by the studio owner, Mr Yoshikawa (He is also aan excellent Japanese jazz drummer).
