Note: The dynamic vocal duo of Roscoe Shelton & Earl Gaines rocks with gospel fervor on Let's Work Together. Backed by the B.B. King-inspired guitarist Fred James and his group, these two rich R&B voices from the '50s wail individually and in harmony on several of Shelton's soul-laden originals as well as on Wilbert Harrison's title track. It doesn't get any bluer than "Blue and Miserably Unhappy," a showcase for Shelton. And it doesn't get any more impassioned than "Mercy on My Soul," Gaines' solo feature. Powerfully good.
