Newly-crowned kings of the nu-Balearic-house movement, Luv Shack records bring poster boys Jakobin and Domino back into the studio for some more wizzardry. "Squeeze Me" is minimal and luminescent, a metronomic but highly detrailed hi-hat / clap pattern wrapping around a simple but infectious keyboard riff and padded out with syncopated vocal snippets. Its a formula we all know and love, but the lads pull it off with the smooth, high fidelity style we've come to expect from them. This'll have the tweeters tweaking and the subs rumbling out of the Funktion1 stacks all winter.... LeSale gets asigned to remix duties and rolls out a surprisingly housey jam, with him usually supplying the more laid back joints for the label. His mix utilizes hypnotic percussion patterns and superbly timed breaks and drops to create a late night deep groover of the highest order. On the flip "Lately" works a 'donk'-like wooden stab across a swinging but subtle rhythm, very robotic and sure to get people pulling funny shapes on the floor. A glowing piano motif rides constantly through the track, while sensual strings and emotive vocal samples adds a soft velvety cushion. A realy beauty of a track. Finally, we couldn't forget Burnin Tears could we?! (it wouldn't be Luv Shack without them...) They go even deeper on "Lately", with bassline so sensual it should be x-rated, cascading chords and winding lead lines blend together perfectly, creating the ultimate in late-night bliss. More essential stuff from the Luv Shack camp.
